Awards of Recognition

Community Builder Award

The Okanagan Alumni Community Builder Award honours outstanding Okanagan-based UBC alumni who have made and continue to make a difference locally, regionally and/or globally. Each year, the Okanagan Alumni Endowment Fund Gala provides the backdrop for a tribute to one individual who has made extraordinary contributions to, while at the same time linking the University more closely with, the greater community.

A graduate of either the Vancouver or the Okanagan campus, the award recipient is someone who sets an example of building community and who, through professional and volunteer activity, demonstrates UBC's values and vision of civil society, sustainability and global responsibility.

Rising Star Award

The Rising Star Award honours graduates of the Okanagan campus who have shown themselves to be exceptional in social, civic, professional, cultural, research and/or athletic pursuits and accomplishments.  These individuals bring pride to the University community by applying their learning for the betterment of the world around them.  The Okanagan Alumni Endowment Fund Gala provides a platform to recognize their contribution.

The award recipient is someone who exemplifies how UBC prepares and encourages students to make a difference. He or she will have completed an undergraduate degree at the Okanagan campus within five years of the award nomination.

About the Selection Process

All nominations will be considered by the Awards Committee, made up of members of UBC's Okanagan Alumni Chapter Committee.  Only those individuals selected to receive an award, and their nominators, will be contacted, however.  We thank you for your nomination(s).

Nominations will stand for one year and may be resubmitted year-to-year.
