The Deputy Vice Chancellor's Lecture Series: Issues of Our Time

“…We have a hunger of the mind which asks for knowledge of all around us, and the more we gain, the more is our desire; the more we see, the more we are capable of seeing…” -- Maria Mitchell

In the face of an ever-expanding world and rapid change, people look for ways to make sense of what is happening around them. Technology, environmental degradation and social divides are among the issues of our time – issues that impact the way we think, live and interact in the world.

The Deputy Vice Chancellor’s Lecture Series: Issues of Our Time features topics of regional and global relevance, reflected through cutting-edge UBC research.

First in the Series: Dr. Mark Holder, associate professor of psychology, presents his latest findings on What Makes Us Happy, with a unique blend of humour and science.

Listen. Learn. Then settle in for vibrant discussion. Inform your action.

Date: Monday, Feb. 23, 2009
Time: 7 to 8:30 p.m.
