Sport: Women's Soccer Opponent: Thompson Rivers University (TRU) Wolfpack Location: Kelowna, B.C. Half time score: TRU 3 - Okanagan 1 Final score: TRU 3 - Okanagan 2 Comments: Thompson Rivers University (TRU) Wolfpack vs Okanagan LakersWOMEN’S SOCCER CO-COACH Peter Rochfort: The Lakers faced their toughest test of the year as they played the runners-up National Champs TRU. The early game woes of the Lakers were again in evidence as they gave TRU a two goal cushion before 20 minutes. Despite the Lakers holding their own from there on, TRU scored again against the run of play. This seemed to wake the Lakers and they pressed for the balance of the half. Right on half-time Sara Liebel scored off a Tara Reszitnyk corner. The 2nd half was all Lakers as they went hunting for more goals. Another Reszitnyk corner kick found Maria Renouf alone in front of the TRU net. The Lakers pressed the attack but were unable to equalize. WOMEN’S SOCCER PLAYER Emily McNie: During the first half we struggled to get to the ball first and also to the second ball. TRU was playing a kick and run, aggressive game and we were not adapting to it. We were not going to the ball, keeping up the pace or being aggressive enough. This all changed just minutes from the half when we got a goal off the cross. During the second half we picked up the pace and begin using our heads and started playing smart. We now fought for the ball and scored another goal making it 3-2 for TRU. The pressure we put on our opponents was incredible and we fought our hardest to tie a scoring goal; unluckily we could not, but we all know we worked very hard in the second half.
