UBCO womens soccer team took the field today facing Vancouver Island University in Naniamo. VIU took the lead early in the first half when UBCO had a penalty kick with a hand ball in the box in the 6 minute. VIU scored again two minutes later as UBCO was attempting to respond to the first goal. VIU potted one more goal in the dying minutes of the first half to go up 3-0. The second half UBCO was able to claw back one goal but not before VIC slotted in their forth of the match. Natalie Abbott scored her first league goal when she tapped in a driven pass from Maria Renouf in the 81 minute to steal the shut out from the VIC keeper. The deficit was too great to overcome and at the final whistle VIU came away with the 4-1 win.

Quote: the fundamentals were missing today. We seemed to be fighting our feet and couldn't put anything together. The focus for our last two games this season is to have two solid performances as we look towards next season.
