Date: Sunday, Sept. 21st, 2008

Sport: Women's Soccer

Opponent: Vancouver Island University (VIU) Mariners

Location: Kelowna, B.C.

Half time score: VIU 2 Okanagan 0

Final score: VIU 2 Okanagan 1

VIU went ahead early into the first half scoring two quick back to back goals in the first 10 minutes of play. UBCO attempted to gain control of the game but VIU was up 2-0 at the half. With their backs against the wall in this crucial match up UBC O picked up the intensity in the second half and finally found the back of the net as Ashley Pereira slotted the ball off a lay off pass at the top of the 18 yard box at the 70min. UBC O continued to search for the equalizer but at the final whistle it was VIU who came out on top 2-1.

Quote: we need to come out and play like we did in the second half right from the start. Now we have a big hole to try and climb out of if we want to challenge for a play off spot. We really need to continue to work on the simple elements of the game to get those sound so we can have good performances. I hope we can turn it around in the second part of the season.
