Heat Sport Camps

July 9-13: Girls Soccer Camp - Grade 3-7 - 9am-12pm - $110/camper

The UBC Okanagan Heat women's soccer coaching staff and players - 2011 Provincial Silver medalists - will lead this fun and challenging camp. Participants will learn game tactics, develop soccer skills and increase your fitness level all in this intensive, yet fun, learning environment.

July 16-20 & 23-27: Ultimate Frisbee Camps – Grade 7-12 - 9am-12pm - $110/camper

Youth Ultimate is exploding in popularity and this is your chance to find out what this amazing sport is all about!  Ultimate is a fun, affordable sport that combines football and soccer strategies with the athletic movement of basketball and the high leaps of volleyball.  This five day camp is an excellent opportunity to develop your skills, make friends, and get fit.  During this camp you will learn proper throwing technique, a number of different throws, the basic rules of the game, and game strategy.

 

July 16-20 & 23-27: Athletic Conditioning camps- Ages 14-18- 6-8pm - $75/camper (incl. HST)

Are you an athlete looking to kick your training up a notch in the off-season? Work with a graduate from UBC’s School of Health and Exercise Science who is an experienced personal trainer and has worked in a group training environment with Heat Athletics teams. Push your limits and improve your strength, agility, reaction time and cardiovascular endurance. Due to intense physical requirements, we ask that participants have a mid to high level of physical strength and fitness before enrolling in this camp.

July 30-Aug 2: Junior Basketball Camp- Grade 7-9 – Boys: 9am-1pm / Girls: 1pm-5pm - $120/camper

Aug 7-10: Senior Basketball Camp - Grade 10-12 – Girls 9am-1pm / Boys 1pm-5pm - $135/camper (incl. HST)

UBC Okanagan Heat basketball coaches, along with some of their top student athletes, will help improve your basketball skills, knowledge and game strategy while focusing on sportsmanship and team play.  A low coach-to-athlete ratio will insure you receive maximum development through this intensive four days of instruction.

Aug 13-17: Junior Volleyball Camp – Grade 7-10 – 9am-4pm - $200/camper

Aug 20-24: Senior Volleyball Camp - Grade 10-12 – 9am-4pm - $225/camper (incl. HST)

Players will receive intensive instruction, skill development and tactics from members of the Heat coaching squad and current Heat Volleyball players. Campers will be divided by skill level, gender and/or age.  Please visit goheat.ca for full camp details.

Aug 20-24 & Aug 27-31: Running Camp – Ages 14-18- 6-8pm - $80/camper (incl. HST)

Calling all high school cross country running athletes!  Competition comes quickly with the start of the school year – why not get a head start on training?  Work with Heat running coaches and athletes with workouts that will focus on aerobic conditioning, drills, proper mechanics and core strengthening.  Sessions on conditioning, sport psychology, and nutrition will be incorporated.  Workouts will be adapted to athlete age and ability and will be a solid foundation for the upcoming season.  No previous running experience required.

U Camps

9am-3pm $175/camper Grades 1-4 / Grades 5-8

Additional care: (8-9am/3-5pm)    $75/camper/wk OR $100/week for 2 kids that are family.

July 3-6: Multi Sport ($150 -short week)

This week will introduce participants to a variety of non-conventional sports along with some of UBC’s varsity and intramural sports in a positive and enjoyable learning environment. Be prepared to be active but have a lot of fun while you discover the amateur athlete in you.

July 9-13 & July 30-Aug 3: Mini University

Ever wondered what university is all about? It’s so much more than school! Be a biologist, chemist, fine arts performer, nurse, exercise scientist, UBC Okanagan Heat athlete and so much more all in one week! You’ll see every part of this amazing campus and graduate all within a week. It’s an experience you don’t want to miss!

July 16-20: UBC Survivor

Attend this exciting adventure week where you will challenge yourself and work with your team through a series of fun competitions that will help determine who will be this summer’s UBC Okanagan Sole Survivor. Physical, mental, and creative challenges are all a part of the week so get ready, it’s going to be a blast!

July 23-27: Kreative Kids

Learn a variety of skills and techniques from the fabulous land of Fine Arts.  Through this week of fun and creativity you will use your imagination and express yourself through painting, dancing, photography, yoga, acting and so much more! Surely there won’t be a dull moment.

Aug 7-10: Wet n’ Wild ($150 -short week)

Beat the summer heat while you discover a variety of water works & wild adventures at UBC Okanagan: water relays, a gigantic slip ‘n slide and exploring the campus’ surrounding environment are just the start of it. Mornings will be wild and afternoons will be wet so bring your sense of adventure as well as your swim suit and towel.

Aug 13-17: GEERing Up! Science & Engineering

This camp offers a dynamic mix of science, engineering and technology demonstrations, hands-on projects, design competitions and labs. On the final day, campers can show their projects to families and friends during an open house.
