Hello!
We are the three exchange students from Hamburg in
Germany: Juliane, Marthe and Jule. We stayed in
Kelowna for one term. We enjoyed our time there very
much. The most impressive experience was that everyone
of you was so friendly and helpful. The method of
study in Canada was very different from our
university, but very interesting. It was awesome that
you have your wood-shops and a lot of video equipment,
and that it is possible to work 24 hours at school.
The nice atmosphere was very useful for working on our
projects. In Hamburg we study graphic design and photography,
but our school also offers typografy, illustration, fashion
design, textile design, costume design and apparel technique.
Often we only have a discussion about our art work
with the professor and the students, while the rest of
the work is mostly self-directed. This depends,
however, on which professor you have and what kind of
subjects you choose. It´s your choice if you want to
work on a strict design-project or on a more free art
work. There is a lot of flexibility in that regard.
Hamburg is a big city in the north of Germany with
about 2 million inhabitants. It is near the eastsea
and northsea. The Elbe river flows through the city,
and we have a little lake called the Alster where you
can sail, row, and enjoy many other fun water
activities. We also have a great nightlife, a lot of
nice cafes, clubs and pubs. The city also offers a lot
of interesting museums and galleries. So come and
visit our university in Hamburg!
Hope we see you soon!
Juliane, Marthe and Jule
