Graduate Studies in FCCS

Graduate Studies Recruitment Poster created 2010 - 11

Welcome to the Faculty of Creative and Critical Studies (FCCS) website for Graduate Studies at the Okanagan Campus of The University of British Columbia.

Our Faculty is composed of 56 full-time faculty members, 17 of whom are in Creative Studies (creative writing, theatre, and visual arts) and 39 of whom are in Critical Studies (art history, cultural studies, and English, French, German, Japanese and Spanish language, literature and culture). By the nature of its disciplinary and interdisciplinary work, FCCS is dedicated to developing a globally based community that offers students an opportunity to work at the graduate level in an intimate learning environment focused on effective teaching and the integration of creativity and research.

Graduate courses are taught by scholars who are nationally and internationally known researchers. FCCS's graduate programs build on the skills and knowledge of faculty members who provide graduate students with the opportunity to undertake critical and creative approaches to disciplinary and interdisciplinary graduate work. Graduate programming in FCCS aims to provide sustainable intellectual and practical academic training to students who demonstrate exceptional scholarly potential.

On this site you will find information for prospective students on applying to programs in the College of Graduate Studies, including Interdisciplinary Graduate Studies (IGS) leading to the MA, MFA or PhD degree. FCCS is pleased to offer students opportunities to pursue graduate studies across disciplinary boundaries and to work with faculty members whose research achievements are reflected in their diverse approaches to creative writing, theatre, and visual arts, art history, cultural and film studies, English, French, Japanese, and Spanish.
