Francisco Peña completed his B.A. (“licenciatura”) in Ancient and Medieval History at the Universidad de Sevilla in 1994. From there he began to focus his studies on the field of Comparative Religion, especially on the Bible as Literature and Hebrew legendary traditions. He started his graduate studies in 1995 at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. In 2002 he completed a PhD in the Department of Hebrew and Aramaic Studies in the program of Comparative Religion at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid. Since then he has been gradually directing his research interests towards the influence of the Bible on literature and towards tracing old Biblical Hebrew traditions in Medieval and Golden Age Spanish Literature. In 2008 Francisco Peña completed a second PhD in Medieval Spanish Literature at UC Davis under the supervision of Professor Samuel Armistead.
