Welcome

The Department of Critical Studies is one of two departments in the Faculty of Creative and Critical Studies and consists of 34 faculty members in Art History, Cultural Studies, English, French, German, Japanese and Spanish.

In addition to offering traditional discipline based programs, the Department is also developing interdisciplinary programs that will draw on the expertise within the Department, the Faculty of Creative and Critical Studies and UBC Okanagan. By the nature of its disciplinary and interdisciplinary work, the Department is dedicated to developing a globally based community that offers students an opportunity to work on both the undergraduate and graduate levels in an intimate learning environment focused on effective teaching and the integration of research. The Department offers a limited number of teaching assistantships to both undergraduate and graduate students.
