Admissions Requirements

Elementary Teacher Education Program (ETEP)

Five-Year Bachelor of Education Degree Program

Students must complete a minimum 90 transferable credits in an undergraduate degree program acceptable to the Faculty of Education (B.Ed. Five-Year Degree option) which must include specific course requirements and a minimum admission grade point average of at least 65% in the last 30 credits of post-secondary course work attempted, up to and including credits completed in Term 1 of the Winter Session in which the application is received.

Two-Year Bachelor of Education Post-Degree Program

Students must complete a degree from a recognized university acceptable in content to the Faculty of Education (B.Ed. Two-Year Post-Degree Program option) which must include specific course requirements and a minimum admission grade point average of at least 65% in the last 30 credits of transferable credits attempted, up to and including credits completed in Term 1 of the Winter Session in which the application is received.

Secondary Teacher Education Program (STEP)

Students may apply for admission to the STEP after completing a four-year Bachelor's degree or equivalent from a recognized university, or a diploma for the Trades Technology Education Specialty, acceptable in content to the Faculty of Education. Specific course requirements and a minimum admission grade point average of at least 65% in the last 30 credits of transferable credits attempted, up to and including credits completed in Term 1 of the Winter Session in which the application is received, must be satisfied.

The following specialties are offered at the UBC Okanagan campus: French Education, Humanities Education (academic preparation in both English and Social Studies), Math Science Education, Middle School Education and Trades Technology Education.

It is strongly recommended that applicants have academic preparation in two teachable subjects.

 

The Faculty of Education at UBC's Okanagan campus does not require volunteer experience, an interview, essay or letters of reference as part of its admission requirements at this time.
