Graduation Requirements

Graduation Adjudication

Adjudication is a process to determine whether a student has met all of the requirements for graduation.  Adjudication is done by the School of Engineering Student Development Office, with the assistance of the Associate Director – Undergraduate Studies.  Adjudication can only begin once all of the grades are submitted for all of the graduating students.  Student records are checked to ensure that each student has completed all of the courses of his or her program and minors, if any, or has been granted transfer credit or exemption for any of those courses not taken and passed at UBC.  A software tool, Degree Navigator, helps in that process.  A list of graduating students is prepared.

The final list of students who have completed all degree requirements is approved by the Director of the School and then forwarded to Senate for conferring of degrees.

Degree with Distinction

A student will be granted a degree with distinction upon graduation if he or she achieves an overall average of at least 80% on all 200-level and higher courses while registered in the B.A.Sc. program.
