Dr. Milani joined the School of Engineering at the University of British Columbia Okanagan in 2007. He was an NSERC (Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada) postdoctoral fellow at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) from 2005-2007. He received his PhD in 2005 from McGill University, with a specialization in multi-objective modeling and identification of textile composites, and his MSc and BSc (both with honors) from Iran University of Science and Technology (IUST) in 2000 and 1997, respectively. He has also been a member of the Process Modeling and Instrumentation Division at the Industrial Materials Institute, National Research Council Canada (IMI-NRC) 2001-2002. His general expertise falls in multi-scale modeling, simulation, and optimization of engineering materials, structures, and forming processes. Dr. Milani is the recipient of numerous scholarships and awards and his research has been recognized by the national and international scientific communities. Most recently, he was nominated for the Best Researcher of the Year award at UBC Okanagan and also won the 2010 International Intelligent Optimal Design Prize by CADLM.
