Biography

Dr. Agamy received his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Queen’s University in 2008; where his research was focused on three-level resonant, high power factor, single stage, AC-DC converters. From February 2008 to October 2008 he was a post-doctoral fellow at the Energy and Power Electronics Applied Research Laboratory (ePEARL) at Queen’s University; where he worked on high power density single stage rectifiers for telecom applications.  From October 2008 to July 2012, he was with the High Power Conversion Systems Laboratory at the General Electric Global Research Center in Niskayuna, NY. In the course of his work at GE, Dr. Agamy’s research was focused on developing power converter technologies for grid interfaced renewable energy sources and high performance converters for medical applications such as MRI gradient drivers and X-Ray detectors.

Dr. Mohammed Agamy joined the School of Engineering at UBC in August 2012. He is an Assistant Professor of Electrical Engineering, specializing in Power Electronics and Energy Conversion Systems.
