The development of society is facilitated and driven by the development of its infrastructure. The complex challenges that must be addressed include the maintenance of current infrastructure and development of new infrastructure and the requirement that our infrastructure meet increasingly stringent safety requirements and that our developments are sustainable. These complex challenges are being addressed by the expertise of researchers in the School of Engineering. Our researchers are developing new infrastructure and rehabilitating old infrastructure to meet the needs of the current generation without jeopardizing the needs of future generations.
Our specific areas of expertise include:

- Land use and transportation for the creation of sustainable communities - Prof. G. Lovegrove
- Sustainable construction management - Prof. K. Hewage
- Wireless communication systems- Prof. J. Cheng, Prof. T. Johnson, Prof. R. Klukas
