Tuition at UBC is one of the lowest in Canada and lower than most international universities. Graduate tuition is assessed as an annual program fee, which is divided into three equal installments due at the beginning of academic terms starting in September, January and May. This fee is the same regardless of how many course credits you register in. Current tuition fees for all graduate programs can be found in the UBC Calendar online:
All UBC students are assessed student fees. These fees help cover costs of resources available to students. Full-time graduate students can expect to pay approximately $765 per year in student fees (including the U-Pass). Most of these fees are mandatory, but some have opt-out provisions. With the exception of AMS/GSS Extended Health Care Fee and iMED fee, all student fees are charged in three installments payable in September, January, and May.
For exact current fee amounts please see a listing of Student Fees in the UBC Calendar.

Graduate students may obtain funding from three main sources.
Research Assistantships are typically arranged between the research supervisor and the student. These funds are paid as a stipend from the research supervisors’ funded research accounts. The amounts vary depending on the funding source, the professor and the student.
Teaching Assistantships are paid to students acting as graders or lab TA’s. The TA positions are advertised each year. Students apply for the positions and the course professor selects the TA from the applicant pool. The TA position is governed by the BCGEU collective agreement.
Scholarships - Students are encouraged to apply for any scholarships that they qualify for. New students that have completed their application by January 31st are automatically qualified for the Graduate Entrance Scholarship (GES). The application to Graduate Studies serves as the application to the GES. Other scholarships require the student to fill out an application form. It is suggested that students arrange to have several official transcripts from their University in sealed envelopes to be used in scholarship applications. More information on Graduate Scholarships can be found here. The Faculty of Graduate Studies in Vancouver has also posted this information. Please note that some of the scholarships on the Vancouver page are not available to students in Kelowna.
