Our mission is to train students to be leaders in identifying and addressing biological questions at multiple levels of investigation from the molecular to the ecosystem. We provide students with theoretical, practical, and analytical expertise, as well as experience in the application of scientific results to real-world problems. To further this aim, we frequently collaborate with partners in government, non-profit agencies, or industry, both locally and around the world.

Research interests of Biology faculty members include Cell and Developmental Biology, Molecular Genetics, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Paleoecology and Climate Change, Biochemistry, Ecology, Conservation Biology, Population Genetics, Genomics, Plant-Microbe Interactions, Evolutionary Biology, Plant-Microbe Interactions, and Physiology. Many Biology faculty are also affiliated with the Species at Risk and Habitat Studies (SARAHS) center. We encourage students to contact potential research supervisors directly.  Please refer to the web pages of individual faculty members to learn more.
