Graduation Checklist

Congratulations on completing your journey at UBC's Okanagan Campus! Below is some information to help you complete that final step and make it through your graduation ceremonies.

1. Apply for Graduation

Every candidate for a degree must make formal application for graduation. See the Student Services Web site for important application information, dates, and deadlines.

IMPORTANT: If you are NOT attending your Graduation, please e-mail gradapps.okanagan@ubc.ca.

2. Find your procession number

This is the order in which you'll cross the stage at the ceremony so make sure you know your number before you arrive.  You can find your procession number by viewing your grad application on the Student Service Centre.  You can also check your current grad status and make sure the information printed on your diploma and in the grad program is correct.  To make changes to your application, contact UBC's Okanagan Campus' Graduation Office at gradapps.okanagan@ubc.ca.

3. Order your Convocation Gown

All graduates attending the UBC convocation Ceremonies are required to wear gowns and hoods. Mortarboards (hats) are optional. Please note that a late fee will be charged if the gown rental form is not received at the Bookstore by the due date. For more information, please visit Graduation Gowns.

4. Reserve Seating

Due to the seating capacity of the gymnasium, students may submit RSVPs for their guests starting April 1, 2012.  This information is only for the purposes of ensuring that there are an adequate number of seats for guests. For more information, please visit Guest Seating.

5. Tell your Guests

Information for guests attending the ceremonies is available on the page For Guests. This page provides details on accommodations on campus, parking, maps, photography and video of the ceremonies.

6. Prepare for Your Ceremony

When the day of your ceremony arrives, come to the Atrium of the Fipke Building at least 90 minutes before the start of your ceremony (see map). There is no secure storage space available in the Atrium of the Fipke Building, so whatever you bring with you into the Fipke Building, you will need to bring with you into the Gymnasium and you will need to hold onto throughout the ceremony. As such, please leave personal items such as purses and coats with your families.

For complete details about the ceremony, please read some important Ceremony Instructions.

7. Enjoy your Convocation Day!

This is a special day for you, your friends, and your family. Make the most of it and enjoy the day! Once again, congratulations on graduating from UBC Okanagan.
