Welcome to the Institute for Healthy Living and Chronic Disease Prevention, a collaborative research centre based at the University of British Columbia Okanagan (UBC, Okanagan) in Kelowna, BC, Canada. We encourage and support research that links communities with the university with a focus on building research capacity, and creating and using new knowledge in ways that benefit individuals, families and communities.
In addition to our core staff, we have a wide range of Associates that include academics, community members, health practitioners and policy makers who share an interest in promoting health and preventing chronic disease. We invite you to browse through the different sections of our website to learn more about our members, research activities and events. We welcome expressions of interest from members of the community and students who would like to become involved in the Institute.
Research related to healthy living and chronic disease prevention has become increasingly important in recent years. We are, therefore, deeply committed to providing students with research training opportunities and to supporting the development of research partnerships in new areas of research. For those who wish to support the activities of Institute for Healthy Living and Chronic Disease Prevention, please visit the Invest In section of our site.
