Bachelor of Arts Honours Designation Program

Go Calendar >>

The Honours Designation provides an opportunity for students who have completed an UBC Okanagan Bachelor of Arts degree to earn the equivalent of an honours degree. Students who achieve this designation will build on the existing degree to finish the same program requirements as an honours degree. Students are expected to complete the program in one year.

Admission Requirements

  • Completion of an UBC Okanagan BA degree
  • Approval of a thesis program by a thesis supervisor (note the department chair and the dean must approve the thesis supervisors for the individual programs)
  • Admission requirements for the specific Honours program including grade average and course requirements (see individual programs for details)

Note: normally the Honours program will be in the same program as the BA degree. Minimally, the student must have UBC Okanagan or transferable course credits sufficient to satisfy Honours program area requirements within one-year.

Graduation Requirements

  • At least 42 credits at the 300 or 400 level according to the details for the Honours program in each program area (see individual program for details)
  • Completion of an Honours Thesis of at least six credits
  • Completion of minimum grade average requirements specified by the program area
