A Content Management System (CMS) allows non-technical individuals the ability to update the content of websites without having to know how to program or write HTML, the scripting language used to develop web pages. Individuals who have natural responsibility for sections of web content are empowered to maintain the content themselves, without having to pass the content to a 'webmaster' for posting.
