How do I show/hide child page links?

Child page links are dynamically generated links to all active child pages of a page, and are displayed as a bulleted list at the bottom of your main content area.

These links are useful on pages where you'd like a list of child pages automatically displayed. To hide the links, follow the steps below:

  1. Go into Full Edit mode for the page
  2. In the General Content 2 Properties area of the page, un-check ‘Show Childlinks
  3. Save and Preview the page
  4. Submit the page for publication, or Emergency Publish the page
Note: Depending on the workflow set-up for your site, you may have the option to Emergency Publish the page.

Child pages links can also be shown/hidden individually using the Site Design Manager.

  1. Login to ACM
  2. Under the 'My Sites' menu, choose your site
  3. Under the System menu, choose Site Design
  4. In the Site dropdown box, ensure that your site is selected
  5. In the Page List, browse (using the [+] icons) to the page whose link you'd like to display or hide
  6. Click the Edit icon to the right of the page name
  7. Check (or un-check) the 'Include in Child Page List' checkbox
  8. Click Save
  9. Click the View Site button in the ACM toolbar to return to your site
  10. Submit the page for publication, or Emergency Publish the page.

Note that Child Page Links will appear only if a template capable of displaying dynamic content is applied to the page. Templates capable of displaying dynamic content include:

  • 1 Col
  • 2 Col (Dynamic Wide)
  • 2 Col (Dynamic)
  • Nav 1 Col
  • Nav 2 Col (Dynamic)

Note: If you do not see the Site Design link under the System tab, please enter a work request at www.ubc.ca/okanagan/helpdesk to have your ACM user account updated.
