How do I import or export survey questions?

Use this procedure to import survey questions when creating a survey or to export questions that can then be imported into another survey.

Importing survey questions

Using this procedure you can import survey questions from an xml file that you created by exporting survey questions from another site. If you have an existing survey and you want to export questions from it, see the Exporting procedure located below this procedure.

1. Create your Survey page, completing the Page Summary and Survey Properties sections.
2. Click Save.
3. Click the Import Questions button. 
4. Use the Browse button to locate the xml document that contains the exported survey questions. This will be a file you created when you exported survey questions from another existing survey.
5. Once you have located the file and selected it, click Preview to see the questions that will be imported.
6. Click Import and then Close to complete the question import.
   The survey page is refreshed and the imported questions are displayed in the question area.
7. Click Save to save and proceed to complete the survey page.

Exporting survey questions

Use this procedure to export survey questions so that you can import them to a survey on another site. This is a fast and easy way to re-create a survey across a number of sites.

1. Edit the Survey page that has the questions you wish to export.
2. In the Survey Questions section, click the Export Questions button.  
3. On the File Download dialog, click Save.
4. Select a location to store the file and leave the name as is but be sure you will remember which one it is.
5. Click Save and then close the window once the file has been saved.
   You can now import the downloaded xml file into another survey where the questions will be uploaded and displayed on the new survey.
