Workshops in the Library

Workshops focus on practical skills for finding, handling, and presenting research information.

The workshops are taught by Librarians and staff from the Library, the Centre for Teaching and Learning, the Academic Resource Centre, and the Centre for Scholarly Communication.

All workshops are in LIB111 - registration is appreciated but not required.

Search & Recover Primary Documents
History and Political Science students may be most interested in this workshop. Primary documents are increasingly available digitally, although many remain accessible only in print. This workshop will introduce you to searching effectively for primary documents.

Mature Students @ the Library
Been out of school awhile? Update your academic library skills. This session is intended for students that would appreciate an overall refresher on access to library resources and how to conduct university level research.

Presenting with SmartBoards
Learn how to use SmartBoard and incorporate them into your workflows and presentations.

Plagiarism and Academic Integrity
Understanding expectations around academic integrity at university is fundamental to success in your studies. Avoiding plagiarism and understanding how to prevent it are the focus of this session.

Learn APA Citation Style
APA Citation Style is used widely on campus in disciplines ranging from Psychology to Management. This workshop will provide an overview of formatting, in-text citation, and creating bibliographies in APA style.

Learn MLA Citation Style
MLA Citation Style is generally used in the Humanities, although many Social Science courses also make use of it. This workshop will provide an overview of formatting, in-text citation, and creating bibliographies in MLA style.
