Like many industrialized countries, Canada has evolved towards a service based economy. Well over 70% of all employment now resides in firms which essentially provide services rather than a physical products or who compete on the basis of service attributes associated with their physical products. Our unique concentration in Service Management fully integrates Service Marketing, Service Information Technology, Service Processes and Service People. Students participating in this concentration have the opportunity to further focus their interests in sectoral specific areas of the financial services (e.g. banking, wealth management, insurance), health services (e.g. clinics, pharmacies), professional services (e.g. accounting and legal practices) or tourism & hospitality services (hotel, destinations, events) services industries. A capstone experience (industry based outreach project) can further enhance student learning and may include managing an event or providing a consulting report for a firm in the industry.

This concentration focuses on the role that top management in any organization plays in effecting a change to culture.
