The Master of Management is a one-year Master’s degree offered by the Faculty of Management at UBC's Okanagan campus that provides a general foundation in business and management. Ideally suited for individuals with Bachelor’s degrees in non-business disciplines such as Arts, Science, and Engineering, the Master of Management program provides an opportunity to gain valuable business skills that are beneficial to a career in any industry or sector. Program Overview

The Master of Management curriculum has been developed to provide a foundation in a broad spectrum of business management disciplines, focusing on practical knowledge and skills that employers are looking for. Course topics include:

  • Entrepreneurship
  • Finance
  • Information Technology
  • Law
  • Marketing
  • Operations and Logistics
  • Organizational Behaviour and Human Resources
  • Strategic Management

This one-year full-time program includes 33 credits of study, which consists of 22 course modules, including a business immersion module, a career development module, and a capstone module.

Designed to familiarize students with graduate business teaching and learning methods, the program offers a mandatory Business Immersion module that runs prior to the start of classes. In the last term of the program, a mandatory capstone module offers students the opportunity to demonstrate their newly-acquired knowledge and skills.

Students without prior exposure to accounting, finance, quantitative methods, and statistics are encouraged to enroll in an optional online preparation course in the summer 2012.

Classes run from September 2012 to May 2013, with the Master of Management experience concluding with graduation in November 2013.

Career Development

The program will provide students the opportunity to learn valuable career development skills, including resume writing, interview techniques, and networking.  Students will also benefit from job fairs, recruiting events, and company information sessions organized by our Career Services staff.
