Welcome to our School of Nursing, a part of the Faculty of Health and Social Development at UBC’s Okanagan Campus. Our school provides undergraduate and graduate programs with a focus on the role of nurses in improving the health of individuals, families, and communities. Our work with inter-professional education is well known, and there are a range of opportunities for students and post-doctoral fellows to work with faculty who conduct active research programs in health promotion and disease prevention; healthy aging; aboriginal health; immigrant health; family nursing; health, ethics, and diversity; health care safety; and end of life care. Our students and faculty are active global citizens who work with our local, national, and international communities. In addition to vital partnerships with our surrounding communities and Interior Health, our school has active international partnerships with schools in Ghana, Zambia, and India and research relationships with a number of countries including Brasil.
Our students and faculty have opportunities to participate in state of the art High Fidelity Simulation experiences in every term of every year of the undergraduate BScN program. We are especially proud of the fact that five of our nursing faculty members were recognized on the UBC Teaching Honour Roll last year, which recognizes teachers in the top 10% of UBC student ratings. This year, we are particularly excited about our new partnership with Okanagan College, who will admit 24 students into the first two years of our joint BScN program to be followed by transitioning to UBC Okanagan campus for their third and fourth years. We also offer a Supportive Admission Program to create culturally sound pathways for Aboriginal students to enter and thrive in our program.
