What is Psychology?

Psychology is the scientific study of behaviour and the physiological and cognitive (thinking) processes that influence it. Psychology is a profession that applies our accumulated scientific knowledge to practical problems. Students with a degree in Psychology might work in a variety of professions in mental health, social services, teaching, management and research and development. Students may also wish to complete graduate studies in order to pursue careers as clinical psychologists, clinical counselors, professors, research directors or scientists.

At the UBC Okanagan Campus Psychology students may graduate with

  • Bachelor of Arts Major in Psychology
  • Bachelor of Arts Honours in Psychology
  • Bachelor of Arts Honours with a Specialization in Forensic Psychology
  • General B.A. with a concentration in Psychology
  • Bachelor of Science Major in Psychology
  • Bachelor of Science Honours in Psychology
  • A Minor in Psychology can be taken in combination with any B.A. or B.Sc. Major or Honours Degree.
