Campus Security is responsible for the safety and security of students, employees, staff and property at UBC's Okanagan campus. Service is provided 365 days per year, with 24 hour, campus-wide coverage. All security guards are first aid trained with Level II, AED, CPR and other emergency response procedures. Campus Security is here to ensure that everyone on campus is provided a safe, secure environment to live and learn in, giving you a place of mind.
Emergency ResponseThe Director of Security & Parking Services works with Health, Safety and Environment and Facilities departments to coordinate responses to all emergency situations including fire, accident/illness, crime, hazardous spills/gas leaks, and bomb threats. Any incident should be reported to Campus Security at 250.807.8111 or Local 78111 or through regional emergency services at 8-911. When utilizing 911 a follow-up call should be made to Security at 250.807.8111 or Local 78111. |
Emergency PhonesEmergency calls to Campus Security, 250.807.8111 or Local 78111, can be made from any office telephone on campus and from the blue emergency security telephones located strategically outside the campus buildings and selected areas throughout the campus grounds. Safe Walk ProgramStudents, Faculty and Staff may request a safe walk non-emergency escort to and from their vehicles, to and from classrooms and offices at any time. This can be arranged by contacting Safe Walk at their office, by using any “blue” phone, or phoning 250.807.8076. In the event that Safe Walk is unavailable, call Campus Security at 250.807.9236 who will provide this service on a priority basis. |
Incident ReportingAny non-emergency incident occurring or noted on the campus should be reported to Campus Security at the non-emergency number: 250.807.9236. Please provide sufficient details to allow the Security services enough information to have them follow up your call. Examples of needed information are:

Routine maintenance of locks and lock cores are the responsibility of Facilities Management. Learn more

Persons needing Salto cards are required to complete a Key Request Form. Requests are to be approved by the Department Head or delegate and forwarded to Security Services for processing. Employees are required to attend the Security office, produce photo ID and sign for their access control card.

The Campus Security offices are located just outside the upper level entrance to the Okanagan campus Administration building, courtyard side, ADM 104.

Law Enforcement Liaison
Campus Security has an established liaison with the local RCMP. The RCMP will be contacted for major traffic violations, for criminal offences or for any other reason that Security feels that they or you require local police assistance.
