The UBC Okanagan campus School of Social Work is pleased to officially announce the launch of the IPT (Intern Placement Tracking) system! An online service for students, field instructors, and practicum agencies. This new format for tracking essential field information means improved organization and access! The widely used IPT resource created by Alcea Software was adopted by the UBC School of Social Work and the custom designed web based software program began to be accessed by over a 100 students, their field instructors and faculty liaisons in the spring semester of 2011.
The IPT website is located at http://www.runiptca.com. You may want to bookmark this page for easy reference. On this page you will find three fields required for login: Organization ID, User Name, and Password. All information entered in these fields is upper/lower case sensitive. The Organization ID for anyone using the UBCO IPT system is: ubcosw. The School of Social Work’s field education team will supply all users with a unique default User Name and Password. If you have not received this information, or have lost it, please contact the School.
When you first login to IPT using your default password, you will be required to set a new User Name and Password for confidentiality. For security reasons, we cannot retrieve either your User Name or Password information, however, should you lose track of this information we can re-set your account details back to the default settings. Once you are logged in you will arrive at the IPT home page. Your name should appear at the top of the screen. If your name does not appear here, please contact the Field Education office. Please click on the tabs across the top and on the left-hand side. We have pre-entered some information for you. If there is information you feel is inaccurate please let us know and we will work to correct it for you as soon as possible.
While IPT is a web-based field education software program, it is secure. Your personal information cannot be located through online search engines. When you first login to the program, you will use a default username and password. After signing in, however, you will be prompted to create a personal, confidential log-in code for added security. Your information in the software is viewed by the designated staff within the Field Education program only. If you have any concerns about your privacy using the software, please contact the Office of Field Education at (250) 807-8811.
To report software problems, concerns or general comments, please contact Amy Fulton, Field Education Coordinator (amy.fulton@ubc.ca) or Corinne Dolman (corinne.dolman@ubc.ca), Student Education Coordinator. For any problems, please report the time, date and activity in process when the issue occurred. This information is necessary in determining the problem and identifying a solution. Please note that most problems occur due to users not SAVING their work regularly.
