Peer Tutor Role
Peer tutors are employed through the UBC Okanagan Academic Resource Centre to tutor academic subjects in any of our three tutoring centres: Writing and Language Centre, Math and Science Centre, and the Earth and Environmental Sciences Centre. Tutoring is a supplement to teaching and provides expertise, experience, and encouragement, rather than simply providing answers.
Requirements
- GPA of 3.0
- Must demonstrate thorough knowledge in subject tutored
- Must maintain regular scheduled shifts in the Math or Writing Centre
- Must possess strong communication, interpersonal, and time management
- Must have faculty recommendation
- Must attend regularly scheduled training session as required by supervisor
- Must attend regular workshops that work toward obtaining CRLA certification; all tutors will be required to achieve a minimum of Level 1 tutor training by Dec 1st of academic year
- Must be a senior student

- Peer tutoring is a paid position ranging from $10 per our – $16 per hour depending on experience, level of academic completion and level of tutor training certification
