Over $1 million in scholarships and awards will be awarded this year to UBC students participating in international learning programs through Go Global.
While you're learning abroad, you remain a UBC student and are eligible for UBC awards, scholarships, and financial assistance. This includes student loans, affiliation scholarships, and faculty- or department-specific awards. Be sure to check out these options on the Awards, Fees & Finances website.
Please note that students are only eligible to receive one international learning award, including those listed below and those issued by our partners, other affiliated organizations, or those offered externally.
There are a number of international learning awards that are available to UBC students through UBC's partner universities. If you are accepted to the partner university as a visiting exchange student, you will be notified about these awards. Awards include but are not limited to:
Value: Up to $1,000 per term
Eligibility: All students nominated for exchange, study, or research abroad will be automatically considered. A separate application is not required. You will be notified of your award after nomination to the program. To be eligible for the award, you must have an average of at least 70% on your best 24 credits in the Winter Session before your exchange (with no failed or incomplete courses). If you were on a Co-op work term, you must have at least 70% on your best 12 credits in the other term.
Graduate students in good standing with their program are also eligible for the Go Global Award.
Value: Up to $1,500 per term
Eligibility: All undergraduate students nominated for exchange, study, or research abroad will be automatically considered. A separate application is not required. The scholarship will be given on a competitive basis to those with the highest average and a minimum of 27 credits.
Value: $10,000 per year (10 awards available)
Eligibility: The Choquette Family Foundation offers awards totaling $100,000 for undergraduate and graduate UBC students participating in a Go Global program. The intention of these awards is to support academically strong students who are interested in participating in an international experience but could not do so without financial assistance.
Minimum requirements are that you mus have an average of at least 70% on your best 24 credits in the Winter Session before your exchange (with no failed or incomplete courses). If you were on a co-op work term, you must have at least 70% on your best 12 credits in the other term.
Students must be Canadian Citizens or Permanent residents. The international program must be at least eight months in duration and take place outside of Canada (excluding Quebec) or the United States.

Eligibility: To be considered for this award, you must have been nominated to participate in a Go Global program at Tecnologico de Monterrey.

This award was created by the Province of BC and the Irving K Barber British Columbia Scholarship Society to expand educational opportunities for students at post secondary institutions across BC.

This award has been endowed by the Constance Killam Trust and the Elizabeth Killam Rodgers Trust for full-time undergraduate students who are participating in a recognized UBC exchange with a partner institution in the US. The award is open to both incoming and outgoing exchange participants who are US or Canadian citizens or permanent residents.

Thanks to a generous contribution from the Lee Foundation of Singapore, UBC students nominated for a Go Global program to the National University of Singapore are eligible for a UBC-NUS Lee Foundation Student Mobility Award. The amount of the award varies each year. This year the award is valued at SGD $2,500.
There is no application required for this award. All students meeting the requirements above who have been accepted to participate in a Go Global program will be considered. Only those students selected will be contacted.

All students meeting the requirements above, who have been accepted to participate in a Go Global program at Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, will be considered. Only those students selected will be contacted. Conditional nominations for this award will be announced in late February.
In partnership with the Faculty of Graduate Studies and UBC's Go Global program, the Office of the Vice-President, Research invites applications from UBC graduate students who wish to participate in a research abroad opportunity at a leading institution outside North America, and from UBC faculty who desire to host an overseas graduate research student at UBC. Students must be enrolled as a full-time graduate student at UBC or at a university outside of North America at the time of application. Priority is given to PhD students.
Six $5,000 travel awards are offered to students who wish to learn more about the culture and language of Taiwan. To ensure the award is granted to individuals who have had little experience with this part of Asia, eligibility is limited to candidates who have not resided in Taiwan or China for more than twelve months in the past ten years. The award is open to Canadian citizens only.
The award is now available to both graduate and undergraduate students.
