Volunteer
There are lots of ways to get involved at UBC Okanagan. Volunteering allows you to meet new students, add more experience and have a great time.
Campus Life offers the following volunteer opportunites:
- Create New Student Orientation - 1 day committment plus training
- Help our new to UBC students get oriented with our campus and our community
- Campus Life Council (meets twice monthly throughout the academic year)
- Help plan events for other students, share ideas and support Campus Life initiatives
- Various events (throughout the academic year with varying levels of commitment)
- Campus Life does all sorts of fun and different events throughout the year. Volunteer to help plan them or help facilitate them, such as events during OutWeek, Festival at the U, or other great events.
Orientation Leaders
Have fun and make a difference – become an Orientation Leader!
Do you remember what it was like to be new to UBC's Okanagan Campus – all the questions, uncertainties, and unknowns? By volunteering as a Create Orientation Leader (OL), you can use this knowledge and experience to help ease the transition for our newest students.
The Job
OLs meet and greet new students and help get them settled on their first day.
- Show new students around campus via a campus tour
- Welcome them, answer their questions and provide a friendly face
- Take them to important sessions like invocation and Meet the Dean
- Show them to Show Case
Requirements
To be eligible to be an OL, you must:
- Be enrolled at UBC Okanagan for Fall 2011
- Attend our welcome training - dates to be determined - AND our Create training Monday, September 5, 2011
- Work at Create New Student Orientation on Tuesday, September 6 (there are no scheduled classes that day)
