Strategic Plan - Place and Promise: The UBC Plan

As one of the world’s leading universities, The University of British Columbia creates an exceptional learning environment that fosters global citizenship, advances a civil and sustainable society, and supports outstanding research to serve the people of British Columbia, Canada, and the world. The Strategic Plan sets out to uphold this vision by:

  • reviewing the mission and vision statements, as well as the goals and strategies set out in Trek 2010
  • reaffirming or reorienting our mission and vision statements
  • determining if we move away from ‘pillars’ to statements of value
  • identifying key directions and strategies that support our mission and vision
  • identifying clear priorities for the university in learning, teaching and research; integrating with the academic plan
  • identifying key social, cultural, scientific and health challenges where UBC is poised to make globally influential contributions
  • maintaining and enhancing an open and accountable governance structure
